The Sandia Mountains on the east side of Albuquerque provide an endless inspiration for paintings. The afternoon sun creates shadows on the mountain and highlights the granite rock. I composed this painting with a vertical oval going from chamisa to juniper to the light on the mountain and back down to the chamisa with the small rocks on the left. This lets the viewer’s eye move easily around the painting.
