Christine Debrosky, Oak Creek Sparkles
2021, Pastel on archival surface
16” x 24” unframed
22” x 30” framed
Much of my work is an intimate view, rather than a sweeping vista. In this case, the edge of Sedona’s iconic stream is the subject. The water is often a tea color; just clear enough to show the sunlight and mosses on the rocks below. The mounds of grass are a vivid emerald green throughout the year. I do love painting dappled light and the sparkles provided icing on the cake. I hope that the viewer can feel the warmth of the sun, and hear the gurgle of the stream on a summer’s day. This painting was awarded a landscape place in Pastel Journal magazine’s annual Pastel 100 .
