Simple Things: Julia Lambright

In her new series, Julia finds joy and beauty in everyday life. Following recent global traumas and the artist’s personal history, these drawings and paintings offer a meditative visual space beyond the constant chaos in the world. Working in pastel, egg tempera, and oil paint, Julia shares personal views from her garden and of the children around her.

I remember the quiet river, meadow, and shadow among broad fields… Her, who I watched sitting in silence, viewing summer’s flit of light. How can I explain my feelings and imagine the whisper of a living things? Simple things for me, is a way to take pause, to observe and listen, and to record this visual trace of time.
