A Conversation with Suzanne Sbarge: Suzanne Sbarge and Suzanne Fricke

Join artist Suzanne Sbarge and gallery owner Suzanne Fricke for a conversation about Sbarge’s new series Anomalies from an artist’s residency in Odgen, Utah, on the Great Salt Lake, where she saw firsthand the changes to the plant and animal life due to changes in the environment. Her mixed-media works, including paint, collage, cyanotypes, and 3d printing, consider the relationship between the flora and fauna by creating hybrid creatures, such as snails, deer, and birds with women’s heads (and vice versa). In her complex compositions and mix of media, Sbarge’s work reflects her long tenure in the art world, including 5 years as director of Magnifico then founding 516ARTS and running it as director for 17 years, sharing cutting edge art that reflects larger movements in the culture. The conversation will focus on the pieces in Anomalies and on the Albuquerque art scene.
